The Indian government is ready to recognize the 20-million community of Roma living in 30 countries of the world, “part of the Indian diaspora.”
This was stated by Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, speaking at an international conference as part of the Gypsy cultural festival of the whole world in New Delhi.
“You are the sons of India who have migrated and lived in difficult conditions in foreign lands for centuries, yet you have maintained your Indian identity. The powerful 20 million Roma community lives in more than 30 countries in Western Asia, Europe, America and Australia, and all this – the descendants of our compatriots, “- stressed the head of the foreign ministry of India.
